"We're
all just walking each other home." - Baba Ram Dass DESCRIPTION: Teal shirt with white lettering saying "Beat Me, Slap Me. Make me expectorate. Respiritory Therapy: It's not just a job, it's an experience." COMMENTS:
Most R. T.'s I meet are frustrated drummers. You
remember...the folks who used to get in trouble for
drumming on the edges of the tables in the high school
library. DESCRIPTION: White shirt with a teal and black design on front saying "Rehabilitation: to reinvest with dignity." COMMENTS:
Rehab nowadays is practically drive-thru, what with
insurance companies making most of the medical decisions.
Not much time to help folks discover that beyond all the
changes they are still who they have always been. DESCRIPTION: White shirt with three color design on front saying "O. T.'s help put the 'in' in independence" COMMENTS:
What can I say about O.T.'s. I loved mine: Kim and Betsy.
Got a million O. T. friends. Even married one. Damn shame
what the health care industry is doing to them (actually
to all health care professionals). DESCRIPTION: Teal colored shirt with pink and white design saying "Reach your potential" on front and white letters on back saying "Occupational Therapy, Helping you to be yourself by youself". On front is a person made from an O and a T with a reacher reaching over head for the O and T in the word potential. COMMENTS:
I did this for some students at Cleveland State
University. What a cool little reacher dude. DESCRIPTION: Burgundy shirt with a list in white of all the mean and nasty (just kidding) stuff that PT's tend to do to folks on their trusty mats. COMMENTS:
Twenty years later and I stillget really tired just
thinking about my PT. What's that, Mimi? No pain, no
what? DESCRIPTION: Teal shirt with white symbols saying "Speech Pathologist" in the International Phonetic Language. On the bak in white letters it says "Talk is cheap. Speech is priceless". COMMENTS:
Whenever I find out that I am speaking with a
Speech/Language Pathologist I suddenly get all fidgety
and focus immediately on proper enunciation.
