SHIRTS
ON THIS PAGE AT A GLANCE CLOSER LOOK DESCRIPTION: A New Shirt. Unsure of shirt color yet. Text on front will read "Access Humanity" COMMENTS:
I did this to send a message. Perhaps it should say
"Why does it always have to be about money?" or
"How long will it have to be about money?" I
would value feedback on this. DESCRIPTION: A black shirt with orange and white letters on the front saying "Be Just, Just Be" COMMENTS:
You-be-you-be-you...(sing this like Sinatra...it's fun.
really) Actually, it's so simple it plum evades me.
(Thanks, JB) DESCRIPTION: A black shirt with a white design made up of two Chinese characters on the front. COMMENTS:
I did this because I am intrigued by the fact that there
is no single character for "Peace" in the
Chinese language but a juxtaposition between two:
"Together" and "Equal". This comes
with a small card explaining the symbol. DESCRIPTION: A black shirt with a white design made up of two Chinese characters on the front. COMMENTS:
I did this for the same reason as above. The two
characters represent "Danger" and
"Opportunity". Pretty intuitive. This comes
with a small card explaining the symbol. DESCRIPTION: A black shirt with a white design of a Chinese character on the front. COMMENTS:
Again, a design to ignite conversation. DESCRIPTION: A black shirt with a blue and green world on the front. Around the world in white letters reads: "Working toward a world of awareness and understanding". Underneath the world is the saying: "It is never enough to simply be human. We must be humane." COMMENTS:
It's OK to be apprehensive or fealful of someone you do
not know or understand. That is human nature. What you do
next, though, may be the difference between simply being
human and being humane. DESCRIPTION: A white shirt with a black Chinese character on the front. COMMENTS:
In our fast-paced, “drive-thru”, cost-cutting,
downsizing, gameboy world, the Chinese kanji, “Ting”,
representing the verb “to listen" is significant in
that it explains the difference between simply hearing
and truly listening. By integrating representations of
not only our ears, but of our eyes, our heart and the
selfless act of undivided attention, the Chinese have
truly captured the essence of "listening." It
is so important in any dialogue to listen to one another
with our whole bodies, to come from a non-egocentric,
"non-self" perspective. By doing this, we show
respect and value for the other and leave ourselves open
to understanding a larger truth. We must believe, as
Thich Nhat Hanh says, that we “can receive truth from
outside…that we can come away transformed by what is
good, beautiful and meaningful in another.” The true
beauty of this shirt is in the sharing as well as the
wearing. This comes with a small card explaining the
symbol. DESCRIPTION: A white shirt with a red, green, yellow and blue image of a person with arms outstretched greeting the sunrise. COMMENTS:
Remember to celebrate each moment as it comes. Take time
to see, smell, hear, taste and feel it all in whatever
way works for you. Be in awe of everything. Be a kid
again. Get reconnected. DESCRIPTION: A white shirt with a yellow, black and red design made up of stylized hearts, one separated from the rest. Front says, "A community that excludes even one of its members is no community at all. Back of shirt says, "Lose the Ego. Acknowledge your fear (you're not alone). Share your stories. Find common ground. Tah-Dah!" COMMENTS: This a quote from my talks that someone said would make a great shirt and poster. The back is simply my answer to the "disconnection", the "us/them" problem that seems to plague our world. IF YOU TRY
TO ORDER THIS AND THE "HARMONY" SHIRT (OR
SOMETHING OTHER THAN "NO COMMUNITY") COMES UP,
JUST TYPE IN THE COMMENTS SECTION THAT YOU ARE WANTING A
"NO COMMUNITY" SHIRT. I'LL GET THE ORDER ROUTE
CHANGED IN A DAY OR SO. THANKS. DAN 5/3/03 DESCRIPTION: A White shirt with a multi-color image on front. Image includes a world, a peace sign, a dove, an olive branch and people of many diverse backgrounds and disabilities. Above is an acronym ”P.E.A.C.E." and below, what it stands for: "Promoting Ethnic And Cultural Equality". COMMENTS:
I did this for friends in the school district here in
Toledo. They were working, through a grant with a school
district in Youngstown to build community among students.
Cool program. The design reminds us of our connectedness;
our shared oppression and concerns; that, ultimately,
it’s a tiny planet: one global community. It’s all
we’ve got. DESCRIPTION: An Ash colored shirt. Lavender design on front that says "Play a lot, Laugh a lot and Sow Seeds of Peace wherever you go." Around it it says: "Play and Be Happy. Dance and shake hands. Work when you must but Live, Love and Trust. Be Nice to Each Other. Hug if you'd like to. Tell Stories and Sing and every day Dream and Remember you're One with All Living Things". COMMENTS:
I did this for friends at The Sanilac Gentleness Network
in Michigan. Looked so nice and the message is so
wonderful. DESCRIPTION: A green shirt with a six color design showing a zulu pictograph of a white person and a black person standing side by side connected together through the sun. COMMENTS:
I felt this summed up peace as well as anything, if not
better. |
