On
Connection
Quite
often, many of the ways in which we are connected, those less
apparent, less tangible, become lost in the increasing din of
everyday life. They lose their importance; their value; their
priority. Yet they are always there. And though our sense of
community; our awareness of and attention to these many connections,
may wax and wane, it, too, is always there. And when, through
conversation, through the sharing of stories or experience, or self,
we have occasion to tap into this stream of energy and connection it
can make even the most intangible palpable, almost heady. It is
electric. It is humbling. It may be unnerving, but when we suddenly
see and feel and shiver from the sacred power of that shared
connection; that mutual understanding, it is pure magic. The hair
raises on the back of the neck, we look and smile at each other in
recognition, and nothing can ever take that moment away.

Quote:
WHAT
IS “VILLAGING?”
“I am a
villager, and I am part of a village in Philadelphia. Simply put,
villaging means realizing that People Need People. I was raised
believing that there is nothing more successful in life than in
serving others. Villaging is rooted in the understanding that people
should be supportive of one another all the time when such support
is needed, or requested. In fact, there is really not much that
people can do by themselves. Villaging is accepting that “together
we are better”. - Shafik Asante, from his book: When
