Here's a way colorful design I did for my friends/family at PEAK Parent Center in Colorado. With artwork inspired by Matisse' "Icarus" the amorphic bodies and asymetrical stars speak to the uniqueness of each of us and of everything in the universe. The text speaks to the power and potential found in that uniqueness. In our education system, especially in our Special Education system, we need to be cognizant from where our teaching methods and beliefs spring. Are they born out of low expectation or high expectation for that student, that child of light? Because it is eight colors on black I am needing to charge $17.00 for Child Medium (10-12) through Adult X-Large. 2X through 5X are $19.00 and. We now have this design in sweatshirts $25 for Child Medium (10-12) through Adult X-Large and 2X through 4X areand $27. Description: Black shirt with beautiful design on the front of a grow up pointing out stars to a child. The message around it reads: "I said to the child 'Reach for the stars.' The child replied 'I am the star, filled with wonder and possibility'." Below, it reads: "Teach with High Expectations." Here is another way cool design called "Lights On". The artwork, a house with lights on, was done by a young man living with Autism. It was a piece I first saw at a Michigan VSA show. The words are mine. I wanted a shirt that sent a message regarding society's desire to "change" or "fix" people living with Autism (any disabilitiy for that matter) in order for them to "conform" to society's accepted ways of learning, interacting, being. I can't count the number of times I've heard professionals complain about the "effort" involved in making it work for this kid or that kid. To many of them I find myself saying, "You know, it isn't about you. It's about this kid and that kid getting what they need and desire to live a quality life." Thank you to artist Deauant Carroll and to Judy Calloway for permission to use the design. Priced regular, as most shirts. Description:
It is a stunning design on a purple shirt that matches
exactly the artwork. The artwork is a colorful design of
a house with lights on. Around it reads: "The lights
are on. Yes, I'm home. You're just not looking in the
right windows. It's all about perspective: Mine, not
yours." This design is called the "Boing!" Shirt for obvious reasons. It is both funny and poignant. The
front gets the laugh. The back speaks the truth. It is
for all my friends with ADHD ... whatever that is.
This one is the same
price as the rest: $15 for Small through XL, etc. It is
available on Sweats and on Child Medium and Large.
We live in tough times. Lots of fear and discord in the world. Everyone needs to be sending love energy out into the world. This design catches eyes. It speaks to what we need most of all. Like
the High Expectation shirt, because this is eight colors
on black I am needing to charge $17.00 for Child Medium
(10-12) through Adult X-Large. 2X through 5X are $19.00
and. We now have this design in sweatshirts $25 for Child
Medium (10-12) through Adult X-Large and 2X through 4X
